Responsibilities:
As a Captain / Expedition Lead, you will be responsible for leading whale watching expeditions and ensuring the safety, comfort, and satisfaction of our guests. Your main responsibilities will include:Operating and navigating our state-of-the-art whale watching vessel with precision and expertise.
Identifying and locating various whale species through a comprehensive understanding of their behaviors and migration patterns.
Providing informative and engaging commentary to educate guests about the marine environment, whales, and other wildlife encountered during the expedition.
Ensuring the safety of passengers and crew members by adhering to all safety protocols and guidelines.
Collaborating with our knowledgeable onboard naturalists to enhance the overall guest experience.
Maintaining and monitoring the condition of the vessel and reporting any maintenance or technical issues.
Demonstrating exceptional customer service skills and ensuring guests' needs are met throughout the expedition.
Qualifications:
To be considered for the position of Captain / Expedition Lead, the following qualifications are required:
Valid Master Mariner certification (minimum STCW II/3 or equivalent).
Experience as a Captain on commercial vessels, preferably in the field of eco-tourism or whale watching.
Comprehensive knowledge of local marine life, specifically whales, and their habitats.
Excellent navigational and boat handling skills.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Fluency in English; additional language skills such as Norwegian or other Scandinavian languages are advantageous.
First Aid and CPR certifications.
Ability to work effectively as part of a team and remain calm in challenging situations.
Familiarity with safety regulations and emergency procedures in marine environments.

Qualifications:
